Final Standings - Men | Women

So much for past experience - two first-time competitors in the U.S. Amateur Championship are taking home the titles.   Michelle Monk of Palm Bay, Fla., defeated Melinda Huang of Los Angeles in the finals 9 - 4 Sunday evening.  In the Men’s Division, Bill McCollim of Freedom, Pa., defeated Richard Andrews of Harvest, Ala., in the finals 11 - 8.   Both champions will advance to a pro tournament next year.

In 3rd Place in the Women’s Division was Betty Session of Atlanta.  Finishing in 3rd Place in the Men’s Division was Gary Gentry of Evansville, Ind.   In 4th Place in the Men’s Division was former U.S. Amateur Champion Robert Hall of Huntsville, Ala.   Tying for 5th Place in the Men’s Division were Jon James Jr. of Pelham, N.H., and Tim Orange of Birmingham, Ala.

Breaking News: U.S. Amateur Championship to Return to Atlanta in ‘07 - The APA is proud to announce that Mr. Cues II has been selected to once again host the U.S. Amateur Championship in 2007.

Awards

  • In addition to advancing to a pro event, each Champion will receive a magnificent marble and bronze trophy and event jacket.
  • Both Champions receive a one year free APA membership and are also invited to return to the Championship Rounds the following year to defend their titles.
  • Additionally, each Championship Round participant receives complimentary private lodging for Fri., Nov. 3 and Sat., Nov. 4, provided reservations are made by Oct. 10
